In 2007, KATO recorded his first No. 1 hit in Denmark, “My House”. Although he started at the top of the charts, he had no idea what journey he had embarked upon. Since then, KATO’s releases have achieved more than 40 gold and platinum certifications and he has received 10 awards from the Danish Deejay Awards, 3 GAFFA statuettes, 1 Zulu award, and 1 statuette from the Danish Music Awards.

The first single “Turn The Lights Off”, achieved tremendous results in Scandinavia, with rankings such as #2 on the Scandinavian club chart, as well as #4 on the Swedish airplay chart.

The single subsequently spread all the way to Russia, where it entered both the airplay- and club-charts at #1. Due to the massive success in Scandinavia and Eastern Europe, KATO received attention from Universal Music in Germany who signed and released the single, with a Top-20 position on the German DJ chart as a result.

KATO’s debut album “Discolized” contained several major local hits, including “Hey Shorty” and “Desert Walk”; Songs that paved the way for performances at the biggest festivals in Denmark, which made him the first DJ headliner in Danish music history.

The philosophy and strength of KATO’s music has always been to combine genres, but with an extreme focus on the commercial potential and a curiosity to discover evolving trends in music. This recipe has kept the multi-talent sitting on top of the Danish club-throne from the beginning of his career, as a DJ, artist, producer and remixer. When things were at their wildest in 2012, KATO was in one way or another involved in at least one Danish #1 hit a month.

In the spring of 2013, KATO released his 2nd solo album “Behind Closed Doors”, which as expected was packed with feature artists. The bar was set even higher than on the debut album, which was reflected in the list of stars from Denmark, Sweden and the USA, which included i.a. Snoop Dogg, Shontelle and Kurupt, as well as Danish Bent Fabricius-Bjerre

The hit singles “Never Let You Go”, “Klapper Af Den”, “Alive”, “Danmark” and “I’m In Love” all achieved gold or platinum certifications in Denmark. With these, KATO solidified his status, and established himself as one of the biggest Danish stars of the time.
In addition to the great success of his releases, KATO is also without comparison, the most pioneering and innovative front runner, for the entire DJ genre in Denmark. In addition to

headlining at Danish festivals such as Smukfest, Skive Festival and Grøn Koncert, KATO became the first Danish DJ to headline his own indoor tour in 2011. Since then, KATO has headlined 2 national indoor tours.

In the autumn of 2013, KATO was signed internationally by Warner Music, who released the single “Dimitto (Let Go)” in 23 European countries. A single that created a small piece of music and media history in Denmark, when the accompanying music video became the first and last to be shot on top of the Great Belt Bridge, the longest bridge in Denmark.

In 2014, KATO released the 2 Danish singles “Ejer Det” and “Dumt På Dig”, which achieved respectively platinum and double platinum certification in Denmark.

In the summer of 2015, the English album “NOW” was released, which i.a. featured the Danish pop star Mads Langer, and a return of the legends Snoop Dogg & Kurupt. The international venture on the album resulted in a record deal with label giants Virgin Records (UK) and Republic Records (US).

During the preparation of the international single, KATO released the gold-certified single “Bitches & Booze (ft. TopGunn & Brandon Beal”, and “Live It Up (ft. Wafande)”, to his Danish audience.

In the spring of 2017, the international single “Show You Love” was released with the American superstar Hailee Steinfeld and the English hit producer Sigala. The single premiered on BBC Radio 1 and spent several weeks as #1 on the official English Upfront Club Chart, as well as at the same position on the Commercial Pop Club Chart.

To date, “Show You Love” has generated more than 100 million streams and sold more than 450,000 singles, across all sales platforms as well as receiving massive airplay worldwide. The single has achieved a silver certification in the UK for 200,000 downloads sold.

KATO also made a return to remix work in 2017. Initially with a remix of the debut single “The Weekend”, from the Swedish club act ‘This Diamond Life’, and with an edit of the single “Deja Vu” from the Danish / English producer -duo ‘Million Dollar Weekends’.

On June 15th 2018 “Motions” was released by Universal Music in Sweden and exactly one year later in 2019, the sequel “Always Been You” was released.

The year is now 2021 and there is a global pandemic. The Danish DJ star spent the lockdown period reinventing himself as an artist. The much-needed reboot is also reflected in the music than is being released this year as KATO has found his way back to the genre that helped kick start his career, and which has a special place in his heart: Club music.
